Margaret Blanche (Maw Maw) Gamble, a resident of North Main Street, Columbia, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 11, 2007, at her home. She was 78. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in First Baptist Church of Columbia with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the parlor of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Gamble was born in Norfolk, Va., but was reared in Virginia Beach, Va. A resident of Columbia since 1968, she lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. Mrs. Gamble and her late husband formerly owned and operated Columbia T.V. and Appliance. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia and participated in Friends of Columbia. Mrs. Gamble was preceded in death by her husband, James Coy Gamble, her father, Ralph Brinn, her mother, Jeanette Hutchinson Bills and her stepfather, Robert Bills. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Sandra Gamble Carter and husband, Larry Carter, Columbia; her son, Scott Gamble, Columbia; four grandchildren, Michael Carter, Kristy Carter, Patrick Carter and David Gamble; a brother, Jimmy Brinn and wife, Diane Brinn, Tidewater, Va.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Robert Brownlee, Blakely, Ga.; Annette and Jim Massey, Panama City, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
