Jasper Cecil Snow, a resident of Oakley Drive, Columbia, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2007, in the Early Memorial Hospital in Blakely, Ga. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, near Headland. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Parkinson Support Group, P.O. Box 6861, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mr. Snow was born and reared in the Manchester community, near Jasper, in Walker County, son of the late Charlie Webster Snow and Bessie Leola Williams Snow. Upon graduation from Curry High School in Walker County, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country on the USS Enterprise during World War II. Mr. Snow enrolled at Jacksonville State University where he received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education and also a Master of Science in Education. He formerly taught elementary education in Cullman and Calhoun Counties. Mr. Snow also served as Principal and Transportation Supervisor in Calhoun County. He retired as a Transportation Consultant from the State of Alabama Department of Education.
Mr. Snow was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia and the Mens Sunday School Class. A resident of Columbia since 1997, he lived in Lincoln most of his adult lifetime where he was a member and Sunday School teacher in the Lincoln Baptist Church. Mr. Snow was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Walker and Reba Lolley.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Frances Johnson Snow, Columbia; a daughter, Karen Snow Williams and husband, Andy Williams, Columbia; a son, Byron Snow, Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Snow, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Dorothy Snow, Jasper; five grandchildren, Adam Williams, Jason Williams, Kevin Williams, Jeremy Snow and Christiana Snow.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Deacons and the Mens Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Columbia.
