Mr. William Elmer McNeil of Rehobeth died at his residence Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007. He was 84.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at the chapel at Ward Wilson Funeral Home at Memory Hill Cemetery, 2414 Hartford Highway, with the Rev. Willie Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight, Nov. 5, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mr. McNeil was born June 1, 1923, in Rehobeth to Walter D. and Della Elmore McNeil. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Geneva. Mr. McNeil was a member of the Lions Club and the Quarter Back Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially loved his dogs.
Mr. McNeil was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, Jewel Butler and Vindeta Waters, and a brother, Leon McNeil.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jewel Smith McNeil; his daughters, Glenda McNeil Powell of Rehobeth, and Brenda McNeil Bryant and her husband, David, of Dothan; a grandson, William David Bryant; two granddaughters, Kristin Leigh Bryant and Denice Powell Papac, and her husband, Steve; three great-granddaughters, Shelby Blair Papac, Ashleigh Claire Papac and Lacey Nichole Papac.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Butler, Clyde Bailey, E.L. (Wine) Elmore, David C. Bryant, William David Bryant and Steve Papac.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ted Pauk and staff and hospice nurses Shea and Sandra.
