John Michael Childs of Samson passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007. He was 22.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the Samson First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Blackmon and Dr. Thomas Childs of LifePoint United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Samson First United Methodist Church, Playground Fund, 204 W. Main St., Samson, AL 36477.
Michael was never able to walk, sit up or talk, but he was a world-class snuggler. He had the smile of an angel and brightened the life of all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, William Hayden Childs, M.D. and Jule Glenn Childs of Samson; two brothers, William Hayden Childs Jr. and wife, Emily, of Austin, Texas, and Patrick Glenn Childs of Santa Fe, N.M.; sister, Jennifer Borges and husband, Mauro, of San Francisco, Calif.; grandmother, Ouida Childs of Samson; nephew and niece, Abraham and Geneva Childs of Austin, Texas; and numerous aunts and uncles.
