Mrs. Sabie Dell Austin of Newton (Wicksburg Community), passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Medical Center Enterprise after an extended illness. She was 91.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Christian Home Church of Christ with Minister Mark Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Home Church of Christ Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may
be made to Christian Home Church of Christ Building Fund, 463 West State Highway 92, Newton, AL 36352 or to your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Dale Mathis, 322 Hosea Mathis Road, Newton (Wicksburg Community).
Mrs. Austin was born on Sept. 2, 1916, in Geneva County to the late Seymour Sheffield and Maggie Elizabeth Peters Sheffield. She was a member of Christian Home Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Foy Austin of Enterprise; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and Gerald Holloway of Wicksburg, Patsy and David Ashe of Opp, Dale and Danny Mathis of Wicksburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Foyette and Dollie Austin of Wicksburg; a sister, Cleolua Phelps of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, aides and other support personnel on Hall 3 of the Enterprise Nursing Home for the love and tender care given to their Mother and that they are still providing for their Father.
