Gladys Wilkes Murphy of Enterprise went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, with her family at her bedside. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Gary Daniels and Rev. Kenny Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Providence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., today, Oct. 14, 2007, at Providence Funeral Home. The body of Mrs. Murphy will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will be at 411 South Oakridge.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Main St., Enterprise, AL 36330.
Born in Barbour County on Feb. 1, 1920, Gladys has spent most of her adult life in Enterprise. She retired from the Coffee County Circuit Clerks office and was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Enterprise.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mr. James Murphy, Enterprise; one daughter, Delores Murphy, Huntsville; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Irving and Jan Murphy, Enterprise, and Richard and Farrie Murphy, Dothan; two grandchildren, Anna-Marie Murphy, Auburn; Richard Moquin, Colorado; and many special nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lena Wilkes; one sister, Mary Ruth Baker; one brother, Ed Wilkes.
