Nadine Green Thompson, a resident of County Road 51, between Headland and Columbia, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, 2007, in a Dothan hospital. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. A. M. Treadwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Cemetery near Midland City. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, James Allen (Hank) Thompson, 1726 County Road 51, Columbia.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Cemetery Fund, c/o Mildred Dease, 9296 South County Road 67, Midland City, AL 36350.
Mrs. Thompson was born and reared in the Sylvan Grove community in Dale County, daughter of the late James Henry Green and Mary Emma Garrett Green. She moved to Henry County, near the Camp Springs community, in 1945. Mrs. Thompson was retired as the co-owner and operator of Thompsons Dairy. In earlier years, she operated a block ice route in the Wiregrass area. Mrs. Thompson was formerly employed by the Henry County Board of Education as a School Bus Driver and by the Montgomery Advertiser as a route carrier and also was an Avon Sales Representative for many years. She was affiliated with the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church and the Camp Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed serving the churches that she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Frances Thompson, a daughter, Patricia Leann Thompson and a sister, Mary Alice Miliner.
Surviving relatives include two sons, William F. (Rusty) Thompson and wife, Melanie Thompson, Dublin, Ga.; James Allen (Hank) Thompson and wife, Lisa G. Thompson, Columbia; six grandchildren, Brandalyn Thompson, Nicholas Thompson, Colby Jackson, Hanna Nicole Thompson, A.J. Thompson and Michael Chase Etress; a great-grandson, Jamie Allen Thompson; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Terry Pitchford, Nick Thompson, Terry Shelley, Frank Granberry, Stanley Enfinger and A.J. Thompson. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Roger Shelley.
