Joseph Frank Beasley Jr. was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Nashville, Tenn., to Fannie and Joseph Frank Beasley Sr. Joseph departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at 3:57 a.m. in the Flowers Hospital. Reposing will be Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5-7 at Scotts Chapel Hill Mortuary, 103 W. Southport St., Dothan.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, at Scotts Chapel Hill Mortuary. He will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park with naval military honors.
To family and friends Joseph Frank Beasley Jr., was known as Poppy, Daddy Joe, Daddy and Joe. Joe was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. After the war Daddy Joe settled in Evanston, Ill., where he was a Barber and co-owner of Harrys Barber Shop.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory children, Delores McLeod (Dr. J.W. McLeod) of Dothan, Dwight Beasley of Grand Rapids, Mich., Leon Clark (Christine) of Little Rock, Ark., Julia Victoria Black of Atlanta, Ga., Neartis Clark (Patricia) of Forest City, Ark.; grandchildren, Christina Campbell, Alison DeLay, Norman Beasley, Arnold Beasley, Dyrek Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Joseph Beasley IV, Brian McLeod, Queing Beasley, Kimberly McLeod, Elliott Clark, Teon Clark, Lorna Carol Akins, Ponce de Leon Clark, Keisha Clark, Douglas Johnson, Bridgette Clark and Mario Clark; 24 great-grandchildren; seven godchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jannie Beasley, Phoenix, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Verna S. Williams, Forest City, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
