Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Cook

Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Cook, 67, of Rehobeth, died Saturday Sept. 29, 2007, at her residence following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in the Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Coley M. Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. Asked to serve as pallbearers will be Kenneth Voorhees, Mike Ward, Josh Nance, Bubba Cook, Paul Barnes, Jeremy Barnes, Mike Hudson and David Laham. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence, 9095 S. Park Ave. The family would like extend a special thank you to all the staff at Covenant Hospice that has provided caring service to their family. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice Inc., 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL 36301. Mrs. Cook was born on April 7, 1940, in Etowah County, the daughter of the later C.H. Samples and Dollie Strickland Samples. She had been a resident of Dothan for the past 36 years, moving here from Etowah County. Mrs. Cook worked as a senior aide with the Houston County In Home Service. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Slade Simon; two sisters, Betty Sue Rigolo and Margie Lee Stoops; and a brother, Cecil Samples. Survivors include her husband, Cecil R. Cook Sr., of Rehobeth; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Donna Simon, of Slocomb, Bubba and Rebecca Cook, of Gulf Shores; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Kenneth Voorhees of Cantonment, Fla., Rebecca and Anthony Miller of Twinsburg, Ohio, Pam and Donnie Drake of Meridianville, Kim Gillespie of Rehobeth, Angel and Jim Avirett of Molino, Fla., Sherline and Mike Hudson of Columbia, Lynn and David Laham of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford and Lyverne Samples of Boaz, I.W. "Bud" and Hazel Samples of Boaz, Robert and Darlene Samples of Sardis, Francis Samples of Oneonta; five sister and a brother-in-law, Faynell Carroll of Albertville, Helen and Sam Gilliland of Oneonta, Francis Chamblee of Boaz, Martha Ann Manord of Gadsden, Gail Hancock of Boaz; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, (334) 702-1712, is in charge of arrangements.
