Charles M. "Charlie" Gallion, a resident of Midland City, died Monday, Sept.r 24, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness. He was 80 years of age.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Revs. Jason Miller and Beuford Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. before service time.
Mr. Gallion was born March 13, 1927, in Fisher, La., the son of the late William Rutledge and Della Lamprich Gallion. Charlie
was from a small sawmill town. He grew up running through the swamps and fishing before joining the U.S. Navy when he was only sixteen. Mr. Gallion retired from the Navy and gained employment as an aircraft inspector. He then later retired to Florida before moving to Ozark.
He is predeceased by one son, Kenneth Gallion; one daughter, Avalyn Murphy; one sister, Helen Rayborn; and three brothers, Sonny, Gene, and Teddy Gallion.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Dabney and husband Jimmy, of Concord N.C., Melissa Turner and husband James, of Midland City; one stepdaughter, Trecia Ann Turner and husband Edwin of Ozark; two sons, Donald Ray Gallion and wife Lisa of Leesville, La., Charles Gallion and wife Patti of Archdale, N.C.; one stepson, Jimmy Smith and wife Donna of Columbus, Ga.; three brothers, Cecil Gallion and wife Wenona of Pensacola, Fla., Roy Gallion and wife Doris of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Danny Gallion and wife Mary of Alexandria, La.; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren
