Elizabeth M. "Bettye" DuBose, a resident of Ariton, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 76.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. from Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Greg Doss officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9-10 a.m. at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
Mrs. DuBose was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Newton (Prestons Mill), to the late Samuel and Mattie "Toad" Harrell Preston. She graduated from Newton School and later received a BS Degree in Nursing from Columbus College in Columbus, Ga. Elizabeth worked as a Registered Nurse for many years before becoming the Director of Nursing at Oakview Manor Nursing Home in Ozark. She later retired as a Home Health Nurse. She was a member of Whos Who in American Nursing and a member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church. Her hobbies were knitting, sewing, and listening to gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles Raymond Hudson and John C. DuBose; and sister, Hazel Morrow.
Survivors include one daughter, Julianne Adams Plaisance of Ariton; three grandchildren, Amanda Adams of North Carolina, Andrea Adams of Ozark, and Billy Jack Adams II, and wife, Nikita, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Mary "Bug" Kirkland, of Echo and Anne Armstrong of Ozark; one brother, Don Preston and wife, Annette, of Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
