Susie Mae Whaley, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, NC.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Northview Christian Church with Pastor James Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mrs. Whaley was born December 2, 1937, in Headland, Alabama to Remus and Ruthie Mae Thompson Marsh. She resided most of her life in the Dothan area and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first.
Mrs. Whaley was full of life and loved music. She brought lots of energy to all around her, especially to the young people. Her life was Christ and she was a member of Northview Christian Church.
Survivors include ten children, Barbara Pratt (Lawrence), Brenda Walker, Lynn Dell Gibbons (Samuel), Tytus Whaley (Angela) Gregory Whaley (Brenda), Timothy Pie Whaley (Elizabeth), Leslie Marsh, Grace, Lisa Conover (John), and Tabatha Whaley; grandchildren, Joshua, Jason, Nivea, Daniel, Derrick, Eric, Kirsten, Jared, Tyson, Timmera, Timothy, Tunoby, Toby, Jamie, Jordon, Allison, Alecia and Justin; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Remus “Pistol” Marsh; two sisters, Rosie Cox and Cinnetta Marsh; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family also survive.
