David Beckwith Jones, Jr., a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. He was 74.
Morning church services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2007, at Newton First Assembly of God Church at 10:00 a.m. with the memorial service to immediately follow at 11:15 a.m. Rev. Andy Wood and Rev. Frank Standifer will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be sent in his name to the First Assembly of God Church, 147 S. Edward Street, Newton, AL 36352.
Mr. Jones was born in Ohio September 13, 1932, and moved to Chattanooga, TN, at an early age, where he lived his early life. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Jones was employed as a Sales Engineer with Heatec, a division of Astec, in Chattanooga, TN. He was an avid golfer and a Corvette enthusiast, and enjoyed cooking. He attended Newton First Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Jones, in 1988 and by a daughter, Susan DeBlanc, who died in 2001.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David B. Jones III, and Melissa C. Jones, of Annapolis, MD; a son-in-law, Phil DeBlanc, of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Claire DeBlanc, of Houston, TX; a loving companion for 16 years, Wavelene Armstrong, of Ozark.
