Charles David Brookins of Cottonwood died at his residence Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007. He was 75.
Funeral services will be Thursday in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Minister Brian Magnuson officiating. Burial will follow in Ramer Cemetery in Cottonwood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 110, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Brookins was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Jackson County to David Brookins and Eddie Lee Ellington Brookins. He was a resident of Cottonwood most of his lifetime. He graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1950 and attended Chipola Jr. College. He was of veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as an electrician with Georgia Pacific. Mr. Brookins was a member of Westgate Church of Christ.
His parents, and two brothers, Ernie and Jack Brookins, precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife Betty Watford Brookins of Cottonwood; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Susan Brookins of Headland; mother-in-law, Gladys Watford of Cottonwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Tom Pelham of Headland, LaDonna and Terry Hart of Dothan; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Nell and Earl Anderson, Tallahassee, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Shelley Pelham, Kyndle Brookins, Lindsay Hart, Tyler Pelham (Annslee), Chase Pelham, Justin Hart, Kyle Brookins; sisters-in-law, Luverne Brookins, Cottonwood, Annie Laura Brookins, Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, (334) 702-1712, is in charge of arrangements.
