Sister Era Mae (Mommy Shug) Cotton of Slocomb went home to rest at 1 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2007, at Flowers Hospital. She was 101.
Funeral services will be Saturday at County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Slocomb at 1 p.m., where the Rev James B. Dawsey is pastor. Elder Jerry Boykins will officiate the service. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., also at County Line.
Mommy Shug, as she was known, loved to sew, bake, iron and wear her aprons.
Sis Cotton was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ella Thompson; four sons, R.J., Johnny C., Willie Lewis and Edward; two daughters, Elouise and Wannie Mae; five brothers, Charlie B., Hollie B., Willie Oscar, Robert Lewis and Dill Thompson.
She loved her family and will be sadly missed by her three loving daughters, Ruby Dismuke, with whom she resided, Edna White and Josephine Robinson, all of Slocomb; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Christian Memorial Mortuary, (334) 588-0988, is in charge of arrangements.
