
Windell Crockett Corbitt, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, August 28, 2007, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Van Gauthe officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mr. Corbitt was born March 21, 1922, in Holmes County, Florida. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the European Theater in World War II, and later served as a member of the Army Reserve and the Alabama National Guard. After his military service, Mr. Corbitt moved to Dothan where he resided the remainder of his life. He was employed for 35 years with First National Bank and Southtrust Bank retiring in 1984 as Vice-President. Mr. Corbitt was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Corbitt is predeceased by his parents, John Lee and Beatrice Rushing Corbitt and two brothers, Jim Corbitt and Leon Corbitt.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mildred Hinson Corbitt of Dothan; a daughter, Cathy Corbitt of Dothan; a grandson, Bradley Corbitt; a son, Craig Corbitt and wife, Rita of Maryville, TN; a brother, S.A. Corbitt and wife, Addie of Slocomb; sisters, Colleen Baxley and husband, Euel of Graceville, FL, Mary Phillips of Slocomb and Vertie Elmore of Geneva; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Corbitt of Longwood, FL; several nieces and nephews and other family members also survive.
