Mr. Hulon Carter of Samson passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2007. He was 82.
Funeral services will be Saturday in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home of Samson at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Frankie McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will gather at 302 South Wise Street in Samson at all other times.
Mr. Carter was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Ann Carter; sons, Billy Ray Carter and Robert Kilcrease.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette Carter; five daughters, Patricia (Stacey) McVay of Samson, Stephanie Carter (Zach Walker) of Samson, Shirley (James) Adams of Kinston, Annette (Randy) Hudspeth of Samson and Linda Gail Carter of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, James Hulon "Pete" Carter (Tina) of Samson and Gerald (Martha) Carter of Geneva; 19 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Vera Jennings; two brothers, Louie Carter and Lavon Carter, all of Samson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pittman Funeral Home in Samson, (334) 898-7141, is in charge of arrangements.
