breaking news
On Sunday, July 22, 2007, Mrs. Lillie Mae Belcher Martin departed her earthly life at Dale Medical Center in Ozark. She was 88.
Funeral services will be Thursday in Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Willie Richardson, Pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Ozark officiating. Mrs. Martin was born on May 23, 1919, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cas (Sular Snell) Belcher in Ozark. At an early age, she united with Christ and joined Bethel Baptist Church (now First Missionary Baptist Church) in Ozark. Mrs. Martin was active in numerous church auxiliaries, two of which included the missionary society and senior choir. Mrs. Martin remained a very quiet, faithful lifetime member.
On May 20, 1975, she earned her Adult Basic Education Certificate by completing the Level III requirements prescribed by the Alabama State Department of Education.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories one sister, Thelma Lee Martin and one brother, Roscoe Flan Belcher, both of Ozark; two nieces, Annie Mae Belcher (Paul) Moore of Columbus, Ohio, and Theresa Ann Goodman of Dothan; two nephews, Harvey Lee Belcher and Roscoe (Monica) Belcher Jr., all of Ozark; a very special cousin, Nora R. Matthews; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; dear friends, especially Sadie Searcy and family members, other relatives, and friends.
