Mrs. Dorothy Jean Newsome-Hales Clark of Hartford passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 65.
Private graveside services will be Thursday in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery at 4 p.m. with the Revs. Buddy Hood and Glen Tate officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her father, Buck Newsome, in Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Mrs. Clark was born on July 7, 1942, in Geneva County to Basil (Buck) Newsome and the late Dorothy Marie Hatcher. She worked for Internal Medicine Associates until her retirement in 1996. She loved her family and treasured time she spent with them.
Her son, Cecil Porter Davis Jr. and her mother preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce M. Davis of Chipley, Fla.; her father, Basil (Buck) Newsome of Hartford; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Sue Hyatt of Dothan, Fay and Wayne Yongue of Chipley; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Phillip Newsome of Hartford, Robert and Teresa Newsome of Bonifay, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to her; and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Fowler, Allen Dillard, Paul Ford, Wayne Yongue, Phillip Newsome, Robert Newsome and Charles A. Hyatt.
T. J. Fowler will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
