Dr. Fred D. Frederick (RET US COL.) of Enterprise, AL passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Enterprise. He was 76.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, July 11 from the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Dewain Cook, Henry Reynolds and Bob Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 pm and continuing until service time. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 4 pm Thursday, July 12 from the Moragne Cemetery in Gadsden, AL with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Alzheimer Resource Center, PO Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.
Dr. Frederick was born December 26, 1930 in Cleveland, MS. He received his medical degree from the University of MS School of Medicine in 1963. He served his internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas and his residency in Aerospace Medicine in California, Texas and Virginia. After serving his residency in Dermatology in Colorado, he held positions on staff at Martin Army Hospital at Ft. Benning, GA and Ft. Rucker Community Army Hospital, where he retired in 1984. He then practiced Dermatology at Lyster Army Hospital in Ft. Rucker from 1986 –1998.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Ford Frederick, Enterprise; 1 son, Bartlett H. “Bo” Ford III (Gracie), Manchester, GA; 3 daughters, Leigh Ford Parsons (Bill), Brentwood, TN, Jane Ford Patton (John), Arab, AL, Judy Walden Caradine (Jack), New Brockton, AL; brother-in-law, Bob Rogers (Angela), Freeport, FL; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, George Barrentine, Jimmy Patterson, Mac McAlilley, Jackie Bridges and Norma Mims.
