U. S. 431 PROJECT

Updated: January 7, 2009
It`s one of the ten deadliest highways in the country...and with the help of the state government, Southeast Alabama Medical Center is hoping to do something about it. Thanks to a three year grant of close to 8-thousand dollars by the Alabama Department of Transportation, funds are now available for the "U.S. 431 Project." The program is aimed at reducing the number of fatal accidents on U. S. Highway 431 from Houston to Russell counties. The money will be used to vamp up law enforcement on that stretch of highway. Portions of Highway 431 are already in the process of being widened to make that highway safer for motorists.
