RED LIGHT BILL GETS APPROVAL IN STATE LEGISLATURE

Another matter before the State Legislature, Alabama cities are now one step closer to being able to use cameras to nail red light runners. The Bill passed the State House yesterday, and is now headed for the Senate. The measure would allow cities to set up cameras at intersections to photograph the license plates of those cars that disobey traffic signals. The Bill assumes the vehicle`s owner is the driver, but there`s a provision allowing an owner to show someone else may have been driving when the violation was committed. Fines could not exceed 250-dollars.
