JAIL ESCAPE ATTEMPT FOILED

Updated: January 7, 2009
An escape at the Houston County Jail was foiled by authorities Tuesday evening. Shortly after midnight, Houston County Corrections Officer Alicia Jackson saw an inmate slip something under the door of cell J-2. Jackson became suspicious when the inmate came back from using the phone and picked the object back up again. It seems the inmates had used an electrical cord to try and spark lighting a candle. They were trying to burn around a window. The sheriff had high praise for officer Jackson and all the 3rd shift officers at the jail. Charges have been filed against Richard Duane Reece for facilitating escape, and against David Philip Wilson and James William Bailey for attempted escape.
