breaking news
A pair of devastating fires here in the Wiregrass leave residents to sift through the ashes.
The latest blaze broke out around five yesterday evening in the 400 block of Burdeshaw Street. Luckily no one was home at the time. It took crews about 30 minutes to bring the flames under control.
The Fire Marshall on the scene speculated that the entire inside of the house was destroyed, however, not much outside damage was done.
The blaze is still under investigation, but officials sat they think an overloaded power strip is the culprit.
That fire comes on the heel of another that destroyed an area apartment building over the weekend in Midland City.
Sunday morning around 10 o`clock, the firefighters responded to a fire at Midtown Apartments in Midland City. When they arrived, the building was engulfed in flames. It took crews from Napier Field, Pinkard and Dothan to put out the blaze.
No injuries were reported, but the building was heavily damaged.
