Updated: January 7, 2009
An alarming statistic in Alabama...the number of Alabama drivers who use child restraint devices for their kids has dropped by four percent. Governor Bob Riley says that is cause for alarm, and he`s helping one local hospital do something about it. His administration has awarded $25,000 to the SEAMC to help them get the word out about buckled up child passengers. The money will be used to train and equip law enforement officers, emergency personnel, childcare workers, and others to become child passenger safety technicians. They will in turn be able to teach motorists the proper way to install and use child restraints.
