YOUTH SUMMITT AT CIVIC CENTER

Area high school students took a field trip to downtown Dothan yesterday, with their future in mind. They spent the day learning about various career opporunities. More than 200 students, from sophomores to seniors, filled the Civic Center for the "Youth Career Summitt." It is sponsored by the Urban Affairs and New-Nontraditional Programs of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Wallace Community College, Amsouth Bank, and Alabama Power Company. Exhibits at the event are a way for students to learn about high skill and high wage careers. Today, the focus will be on girls in the workplace...the event will run from nine to 1:30 p. m. Registration is five dollars, and is open to all public and private schools we well as home schools and youth organizations.
