On a day when most Americans were reflecting on history, one area town was making history. Residents of Abbeville held their first ever official observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. They took to the streets of their town to honor the fallen Civil Rights Leader. For Charles Grimes, President of the People`s Organization in Abbeville, the time had come to pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For the first time in the city`s history, a march to honor the Civil Rights Leader took place yesterday afternoon. Grimes said he was encouraged by the turnout..even with the cold weather, he added that they would have marched no matter how many showed up for the event.
