Updated: January 7, 2009
After months of waiting, Houston County`s District One now has a representative. Six months ago, Wylie Yelverton retired leaving a vacant seat on the commission. The people chose Curtis Harvey to represent them in Houston County. In November, Curtis Harvey defeated Ed Vaughn for the Democratic ticket in District One, and yesterday Harvey went head to head with Republican Bobby Clemmons in the County Commissions Run-off. This is the second time Mr. Harvey has run for the District One seat, but was defeated by incumbent Wylie Yelverton the first go-round. According to preliminary counts, Harvey defeated Clemmons by a little more than 200 votes.
