SEVENTEEN ALABAMIANS LOSE LIVES NEW YEARS WEEKEND

It was a dangerous New Years weekend on Alabama roadways. Alabama state troopers had projected that 13 people would lose their lives on this holiday, and they weren`t that far off. 17 Alabamians from 13 counties lost their lives on the highways during the 78 hour holiday period which ended at midnight Monday. The number of casulties is five more than the number expected. Six of the 17 accidents this weekend involved alcohol. One pedestrian was killed and one motorcyclist was killed as well.
