20 year old Justin Yoemans of Eufaula was killed in a car bombing last Saturday. Yoemans was a member of the Army`s Fourth Battalion, Fifth Air Defense Artillery.
WDHN spoke to the Yoeman family early yesterday morning, and here is a tribute of how his father hopes his son is remembered.
His father said, (quote) "he believed in what he was doing, and from a very early age he wanted to join the military and serve his country...he didn`t have to do that. He knew the consequences and went into it with his eyes wide open...he knew this could happen, he said, `daddy, that`s my job`. I`ve always taught him the importance of our country`s freedom and the price that has to be paid for our country. God knows I wish it wasn`t my son....the last time he came home for a visit, half way to the airport he looked up and said, `dad, I`m scared`..and I said I know you are, I`m proud of you..and he said, `I`ll be okay`....I have a lot of good memories of my son and things we did together." (end quote)
Yoeman`s body is back on U. S. soil, but so far no funeral arrangements have been made.
