Updated: January 7, 2009
An accident on Hwy. 52 & County Road 70 about 3 o`clock yesterday took the lives of two Hartford residents....70 year old Rodney Allen Jones and 67 year old Nancy Cecile Jones. A third person, 32 year old Jennifer Kristie Yetter, was transported to Flowers Hospital with critical injuries. Highway 52 between Taylor and Malvern was closed for some time, causing traffic to be re-routed. Also, another accident happened last night just after 7:00 PM on Westgate Parkway. An older model Chevy Nova and a Chevy Corsica hit head-on...drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries. The wreck shut down Westgate Parkway for some time. Investigators are still trying to determine just how the accident happened. Police did tell News 18, that they`ve seen a dramatic increase in wrecks over the last few days...they say the congestion from the Peanut Festival has led to a lot of tailgaiting and other forms of reckless driving.
