breaking news
An accident on Hwy. 52 & State Road 70, just past 3 o`clock yesterday, took the lives of two people from Hartford...70-year old Rodney Allen Jones and 67-year old Nancy Cecile Jones. A third person, 32-year old Jennifer Kristie Yetter was transported to Flowers Hospital with critical injuries.
Highway 52 between Taylor and Malvern was closed for some time, causing traffic to be re-routed.
Also police are investigating the cause of a collision on Westgate Parkway which happened just before seven last night near the intersection of Jefferson Court.
An older model Chevy Nova and Chevy Corsica hit head-on. Drivers of both those vehicles sustained minor injuries. The wreck shut down that stretch of Westgate for some time. Investigators are still trying to determine just how the accident happened.
Police did tell News 18, they`ve seen a dramatic increase in wrecks over the last few days...they say the congestion from the Peanut Festival has led to a lot of tailgaiting and other forms of reckless driving.
