FLU VACCINE DELIVERY

Updated: January 7, 2009
The flu vaccine has finally arrived at the Houston County Health Department. Of course with the national shortage right now, just getting the shots in has been quite a feat, and officials still say there is a good chance there won`t be enough to go around. Peggy Blakeney with the Health Department says that it`s true the flu shots have come to the County Health Department, but they are scarce. She says, "we normally receive about 5000, and we received 2000, about 40% less of the vaccine...but you still have to qualify. We are not taking appointments, we will start about 8:00AM. The lines can get pretty long, but the rule is first come first serve, but you shouldn`t get there too early." County officials are unsure when the next batch will be admistered, but they speculate that it will be in late December, if at all.
