NUMBER OF MURDERS DECLINE IN ALABAMA

The latest numbers from the F.B.I. show a continuing drop in the number of murders committed in Alabama. The latest report centers on crime figures from 2003...the F.B.I. says the murder rate in Alabama has dropped more than 16 percent in the past five years or so. That drop has actually occurred while the rest of the country is seeing a rise in the number of murders..even though the overall rate of violent crime has gone down.
