Over a month after Hurrican Ivan swept through our state, Senator Richard Shelby is applauding the Government`s relief efforts, especially for the state of Alabama. Yesterday, the U. S. Department of Agriculture announced that several million dollars will be available for farmland and forest restoration. Those sectors took quite a hit from the storm. Senator Shelby says the new funds are critical for affected areas. The state will receive over twenty-five million dollars for the appropriations, and at least fifty counties will also receive additinal public assistance aid.
