DOTHAN SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

The Dothan City School Board met Monday evening for their regular meeting and one hot topic was discussed...a new home for an after school program which serves at risk youth.
The city program has been around since 1995, and since that time, the Director says eight out of the ten children that the program serves have changed their lives...now the program is trying to change it`s location.
Dr. Joy Suttel says they are trying to improve the building...that with an old building, not only will the building fail fire and safety inspections, but it`s difficult for the students to feel comfortable. So now it is time to get out of the old and into a new facility, program administrators are not sure who to turn to.
They city taking care of the city program, doesn`t mean they have taken responsibility for furnishing the program`s new location. At last nights meeting, some Dothan City School Board Administrators said that the school board may even foot the bill to maintain the program, and keep at risk youth off the streets.
The next Dothan City School Board meeting will be held November 15th. Until then, the School Board is asking County and City Administrators for help with the project.
