Last week, WDHN News reported that residents in Houston County could expect to pay higher garbage fees as soon as January 1st.
As of right now, fees are nine dollas and 60 cents, but the rate is likely to go up to 12 dollars...only now, not as soon as residents expected.
At yesterday`s County Commission Meeting, Chairman Mark Culver said some in the area have expressed concerns with voting to raise prices while there is still an empty seat on the commission. You may recall that Wiley Yelverton retired a while back, leaving a spot open in District One.
Commissioners say they will put the decision off until February to make sure the empty chair is filled first.
You can expect to see a new commissioner on board as of January 11th, after a special election.
