DRUG BUST AFTER DRUG BUST

Updated: January 7, 2009
We told you about a drug bust in the town of Cottonwood just over 24 hours ago...the latest in a string of busts there. Authorities have seized six vewhicles in the last six months for drug related offenses...and in the cocaine bust Tuesday night, they confiscated more than 61-thousand dollars in cash. Cottonwood police says that a routine traffic stop stopped the trafficking of drugs...and cops were tipped off by the passenger`s strange behavior. There was only residue from the cocaine and marijuana so Cottonwood police requested a K-9 or drug sniffing dog from Dothan police and got the answers they were looking for. The K-9 dog alerted the officers, and the search revealed cash that was stashed all over the vehicle...under seats...in the pants pockets of jeans, and even in one of the suspects boxer shorts. Police arrested Nicholas Cody and Orise Kendall, who spent time at Houston County jail for possession of illegal substances. Chief Jim Smith says that drug busts are evidence that drugs in the Cottonwood community are commonplace...but still not tolerated. The money confiscated will be put in a special account at a local bank and will be used for evidence at a later date.
