CBS APOLOGIZES FOR PRESIDENT BUSH`S NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE STORY

It`s been a bad week for CBS...Dan Rather publicy apologized for, quote, "a mistake in judgement" in airing a recent story questioning President Bush`s National Guard Service. CBS claims it was misled by the source of some forged documents they used as the basis of their report. News 18`s political analyst, Dr. Richard Martin from Troy University-Dothan said he readily shared his thoughts about how the recent debacle at CBS will affect the media`s reputation. Martin believes all media outlets took a black eye from CBS`s mistake...and he reminds his students that you don`t accept everything you hear since there are a number of ways people can do their own checking. Dr. Martin believes Dan Rather`s personal credibility as a journalist has suffered. CBS said they would appoint an independent panel to investigate the entire matter.
