HELP WANTED...IN THE HOUSTON COUNTY JAIL!

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Houston County Sheriff Lamar Glover is looking for a "few good people" for several vacancies. Right now he has openings for Correction Officers or Deputy Sheriff`s. With the recent scandal at the jail, not only are they looking for jailers...but the county also needs deputies, which according to the sheriff is a hard job to fill. Sherrif Glover said that recently seven Correction Officers did resign after alleged sexual misconduct, which not only left him short staffed but has him taking additional precautions. Sheriff Glover says waiting on the County Commissioners to finish the budget isn`t his only concern, but filling the slot for five Deputy Sheriff`s is no easy task. He said, "we have a lot of turnover." Money and experience is a concern of the sheriff`s, and the basic requirements for both positions varies. The salary and training for the two jobs also varies. If you would like to know more about the positions or would like to apply, you can call 677-4872, or go by the Houston County Sheriff`s Department. The cut-off for submitting applications is September 17th.
