Fall is almost here and that always signals the approach of the National Peanut Festival. There are still some questions surrounding the fair this year, and it has to do with sales taxes.
In recent years, the State Department of Revenue has been imposing a sales tax on tickets sold to festival goers, but some argue the law is unclear and inconsistent as it has been applied to other similar events throughout the state. The Peanut Festival has been paying the tax for the last few years, but this year they are wanting a Judge to tell them if the law is being applied correctly.
They have now filed a suit in court which will be heard today in Judge Lawson Little`s Courtroom at 8:30am. News 18 plans to be there, and will give you the decision on News 18 at 5 o`clock, 6 o`clock and 10 o`clock tonight.
