CLEAN-UP AFTER FRANCES

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Frances descended on our area and now residents are starting to clean-up. Fortunately the wiregrass didn`t have to deal with the brunt of the storm, but there was still a decent amount to clean up after the wind and rain let up. City workers spent most of yesterday morning cleaning up limbs and other debris in the downtown area. City streets may now be clean, but the work isn`t over just yet. Cynthia Green of Dothan Public Relations, said Frances took it easy on Dothan, but there was still work to be done. She said we were very fortunate...roads were scattered with debris, but wet weather didn`t stop city workers who hit the streets to clean up after the holiday weekend to make them safe for travel. Now that the streets are cleaned, it is time for residents to do their part. Ms. Green said, "we do encourage residents in Dothan to clean their yards of the limbs and debris." Dothan residents really have it easy compared to Florida residents, who haven`t begun cleaning up the massive damage." Officials say that the damage in Dothan was minimal because of the Labor Day holiday, most residents adhered to warnings and were home to tie down trash cans and other loose items.
