CONGRESSMAN TERRY EVERETT SPEAKS TO DOTHAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Updated: January 7, 2009
Congressman Terry Everett returned to the wiregrass yesterday to address the Dothan Chamber of Commerce. Congressman Everett had a full agenda, speaking about the nation`s plan for the future, and how actions in the U. S. will affect the entire world. He says he supports our president and the war in Iraq...but he believes in order for the United States to stay safe, we need weapons in space. He said we do not realize how dependent our economy is on space, so why not weapons? Many say that this is not a good idea because the rules in orbit are different than the rules on earth. It is going to be very difficult and different. Here on earth territories are defined...in space there is free reign, so if we are at war on earth, what will be the difference on the moon? Will there be a different understanding? Everett says yes..."we have to"...and if that understanding doesn`t work, he says the U. S. is committed to reverting to what happens on earth. Congressman Everett says putting weapons in space is an expensive proposition and a national debate must take place before the U. S. could move forward.
