TAX FREE HOLIDAY GAINS POPULARITY

First it was just the city of Montgomery...but soon shoppers all over Alabama may soon enjoy a tax-free holiday.
Some Alabama lawmakers are considering making the tax-free day a statewide event...after Montgomery residents take advantage of the holiday on October 2nd.
State Representative John Knight of Montgomery, says it gives people an opportunity to feel that they`re getting something back.
He`s asked the Legislative Fiscal Office to determine how much a one-day sales tax holiday would cost the state, but Governor Bob Riley has already said it`s a luxury that Alabama cannot afford at this time.
