The U.D. Department of Justice has provided the state of Alabama with 22.3 million dollars for Homeland Security agencies. A portion of those funds were distributed to one local agency today. The Houston County Emergency Management Association presented the Dothan Fire Department with a 1.1 million dollar check. The funds will help the department to increase its ability to safely and effectively handle terrorism and hazardous materials incidents. The homeland security grant money will allow the fire department to buy more equipment and increase its service area by a 50 mile radius.
