Cheryl Gibson teaches 10th through 12th grade at Dothan Technology Center.
Shes been teaching for 27 years and says she loves her job because of the impact she has on her students.
"I think that we, as educators, have a huge impact on our students. I try to be their friend, but I also try to set an example as a role model on how we should act and behave in our society," says Gibson.
She teaches Resources along with helping students prepare for the Alabama High School Graduation Exam and the A.C.T. test.
"My goal is for every student to pass the graduation exam on their first try," says Gibson.
Students say they are excited for Gibson and believe she deserves the award for several reasons.
Khaeida Critten is a Senior at Dothan Technology Center and says "she`s a great teacher. She teaches us a lot...Shes a great person to look up to and a great role model. Shes just fun to be around,".
