Updated: January 7, 2009
The building may look normal from the outside, but the inside is a different story. Fire broke out at the U-SAV Food Outlet located on Columbia Highway Saturday afternoon. A customer told employees there was smoke coming from the dairy section of the store. The cause of the fire was suppose to be released today, however, Chief Munn says he has more to investigate before releasing any information. James Roney is one of two owners for U-SAV Food Outlet. No one was injured in the fire which he believes is most important. "It`s always a terrible situation, I wouldn`t wish it on anyone. But we have a lot of blessings to be thankful for," says Roney. Employees are also thankful that they won`t lose their jobs. There are two other U-SAV Food Outlet stores in Dothan and one in Ashford. Roney says they will shift their employees to the other three stores. The building suffers structural damage, however, its not so severe that it cant be fixed. "It can be easily restored,we will replace the contents and hope to be back better than we were," says Roney. Workers are busy throwing out the old and but you expect to see the new store in about three to six months. JANA JACOBS-REPORTER WDHN 18
