U-S Congressman Terry Everett announced Monday that the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority, City of Dothan, Houston County, and the Dothan Covention and Visitors Bureau will receive a $200,000 Small Community Air Service Pilot Program grant to assit with the marketing of the Dothan Regional Airport. In addition, the funding will assist the consortium with efforts to expand and improve air service in the Wiregrass region.
During Everett`s announcement, he also indiated that the Dothan Regional Airport will be designated as an Air Service Development Zone." The designation comes as part of the small community program and calls for the U-S Department of Transportation, in coordination with other government agencies, to assist Dothan in facilitating greater econimic development and use of its airport.
