WIREGRASS FLOODED WITH HEAVY RAINS

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Rainfall amounts of 3 or more inches were common across the area when heavy rains made driving difficult in some areas and cancelled some area high school football games. The rains began during the late afternoon and continued for several hours. The rains were assoicated with a frontal system draped over south Alabama and were not a direct result of Tropical Storm Henri that moved across Florida. The rainfall was so heavy at times that some drivers had to get off the roadway because of little or no visability. The heavy rains also forced the some schools to postpone their Friday night football games.
