The youth director at an Enterprise church has been arrested on charges he had illegal sexual relations with a child. Police say Timothy Thomas, 25, of Enterprise has been charged with Rape 2nd Degree. He is employed by St. Luke Church.
"(We) received a call (Tuesday night) that a possible sex crime had occurred," Enterprise Police Sgt. Bill Haglund said in a prepared media release. "The Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation at that time."
The age of the victim was not released other than the release noted the alleged victim is under the age of consent, which is 16 in Alabama.
Haglund said the church is cooperating with the investigation and it's believed no crime occurred at the church.
The crime, according to Haglund, occurred between February 28 and Mark 18. Other charges are possible.
